That page has a ton of really helpful reviews and consumer reports/ratings.

Oil, Oil, Go Away!

I honestly don't think that there is a miracle product out there that can eliminate oil from the face. I've had oily skin forever and I have tried so many products in the market that promise to keep my face shine-free for hours only to be heartbroken in the end. None of them kept their promise!

Having oily skin can also mean acne flare ups and continuous cycles of blemishes. For someone who has battled acne for years, I know the pain of having to look at your face in the mirror and quip "Why me?!!"

You can only do so much to control the oil and zits. Sometimes I think that my face has a mind of its own. When it decides to start producing pimples, it will! Thank God for a good foundation for acne-prone skin, I am able to hide my imperfections. I don't care what others say that beauty is only skin deep. The thing is, when my skin looks good, I feel good and when I feel good, I am more confident.

Ok, enough about my ranting and let's proceed to my list of the best foundations for oily and acne prone skin. These are all drugstore foundations that doesn't come with a hefty price tag. I hope this helps you!

My Favorite: Revlon ColorStay Makeup for Combination or Oily Skin

This is hands down one of the best foundations (if not the best) in the drugstore. It provides medium to full coverage which makes it perfect for covering acne marks.

It sets rather quickly so you have to work fast. I use Beauty Blender Makeup Sponge to apply this foundation. Using a foundation primer will also allow your foundation to glide on smoothly and evenly.

The Revlon ColorStay Liquid Foundation remains as one of the best selling drugstore foundations today. It is inexpensive but works really well. These are the top two things I look for when shopping for makeup. You don't need to spend $50 on a foundation when you can find something in the drugstore that works exceptionally well. It provides great coverage and it lasts all day. What more can you ask for?

Almay Clear Complexion Liquid Foundation - Blemish Healing Makeup Review

This is one of my favorite foundations of all time because it doesn't break me out and it really helps control oil. It actually helps dry out pimples because it contains salicylic acid. It goes on smoothly and it provides decent coverage. Almay Clear Complexion Liquid Foundation evens out my skin tone and it gives me that beautiful dewy finish.

This stuff is not so heavy which is why I love wearing it. I use it as my daily foundation and reserve Revlon ColorStay for special occasions or parties.

The best way to apply this foundation is to use your fingertips. The warmth of your fingers will help blend it smoothly and evenly.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Clarifying Matte Foundation Review

With this foundation, it's either you love it or you hate it. If you are going to check the reviews online, you will read contradicting views about the product. Well, I always say this and I will say it again, there's no such thing as one size fits all when it comes to makeup. What works for some may not necessarily work for you.

The Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation promises shine-free and flawless face for up to 12 hours. I'm not sure about the 12 hours part but it definitely helps control the shine. It is formulated with a tiny amount of salicylic acid to prevent breakouts and over production of oil.

It has pretty good coverage and it lasts longer than most drugstore foundation. It has a natural looking finish plus it's super inexpensive. Try it and see if it works for you!

Tip of the Day

To make your foundation last longer and to stop your face from being a grease ball, always use a mattifying primer before applying your favorite foundation and don't forget to use translucent powder to set it.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup Review

Another drugstore foundation favorite is the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup. It provides a good amount of coverage without looking cakey or too made up. I love the formula of this foundation because it goes on smooth. When Neutrogena said that this foundation will make your skin look healthy, they were not kidding!

Some makeup gurus say that the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup is very comparable to Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. They are both lightweight foundations that provides dewy finish to the skin. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on Nars foundation, you can try the Neutrogena Foundation and see if you like it.

I would recommend using a flat top brush to blend out this foundation.

Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Liquid Foundation Review

This is truly one of the most underrated products in the drugstore. This foundation is specifically made for those with sensitive or acne prone skin.

The formula is thick enough to cover redness and pimples without making you look like you are wearing a mask. It helps keep the face shine-free and matte for hours. A little goes a long way. This foundation will last you for months. For under $15, you get an amazing foundation that covers well and won't irritate your skin. It's definitely a great find in the drugstore.
